National Honor Society
The National Honor Society started the year with a general meeting on Thursday, the 29th of August. Fall Trash pick-up was south of town on Sept. 10th

Officers for 2007-08 are President: Doug Malchow, Vice President: Rilee Park, Secretary, Whitney Rice, Treasurer: Traci Keyser, and Student Council representative: Amber Kutnink
Other fall activities include concessions at a VB game and at the SH quiz bowl on Nov. 19th. Spring activities will include another trash pick up and a seat belt awareness activity.
Induction will be on March 25th in the auditorium
UPDATES::: Induction was held on Tues. March 25th. New members are: Shelby Schlutz, Nicky Vandergrift, Jerrel Alexander, Chelsey Moyer, Angela Bamesberger, and Frankie Petersen.
New Officers for 2008-08 are: PRES. Traci Keyser, VP: Frankie Petersen, SECT: Jerrel Alexander, TREAS: Bailey Soucie, STUCO: Kellie Ballou.

Membership in the national Honor Society is both an honor and a commitment. National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Chapters exist in more than 60% of high schools.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
These four areas are considered equally (each is worth one quarter of the overall view).
SCHOLARSHIP: To be elgible, the student needs to have and maintain a 90% GPA. The student must also be committed to learning and approach learning a s a life long endeavor.
LEADERSHIP: The student must demonstrate leadership in school activities and exhibit positive behavior. The student must be dependable and contribute to group efforts as well as delegate responsibilities. Leadership should be exhibited in the classroom as well as in extra-curricular and community activities.
SERVICE: The student should participate in activities outside the school. The student should be respectful of adults and those in authority whether in school or out. Service means that the student gives freely of his or her time to help others and better the community.
CHARACTER: The student consistently exemplifies desirable qualities of behavior(cheerfulness, friendliness, poise, and stability). The student upholds principles of morality and ethics and demonstrates the highest standards of honesty and reliability. The student also has a responsibility to be a positive influence and help the school maintain a healthy, positive place in the community and with other schools.
