National Honor Society
The National Honor Society started the year with trash pick-up an a general meeting
on Tuesday, the 25th of August starting at 6:315. Fall Trash pick-up was south of town on Hwy 47.
CURRENT NHS MEMBERS (2009-2010):
Frankie Petersen, Angela Bamesberger, Chelsey Moyer, Miranda Feddern, Halee Long, Sydney Johnson, Brooke Ballou, Danielle Carpenter, Darian Wulf, Lindsey Eubanks, Katharine Riley, and Lisa Malchow.
Officers for 2009-10 are President: Chelsey Moyer, Vice President: Angela Bamesberger, Secretary: Sydney Johnson, Treasurer:Lindsey Eubanks, and Student Council representative: Frankie Petersen
Fall activities include Trash pick up Sept 14th, concessions at the RPAC VB play-off on October 19th and at
the Cambridge BB tournament, Jan 5th. Spring activities will include another
trash pick up and a seat belt awareness activity along with Induction. NHS members wear their official T-shirts to school on the first Wed of each month.
The NHS members also helped with the Blood mobile at the end of July. This help allows the members to be eligible for a scholarship when they are seniors.

Membership in the national Honor Society is both an honor and a
commitment. National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and
most prestigious national organizations for high school students.
Chapters exist in more than 60% of high schools.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
These four areas are considered equally (each is worth one quarter of the overall view).
SCHOLARSHIP: To be elgible, the student
needs to have and maintain a 90% GPA. The student must also be
committed to learning and approach learning a s a life long endeavor.
LEADERSHIP: The student must
demonstrate leadership in school activities and exhibit positive
behavior. The student must be dependable and contribute to group
efforts as well as delegate responsibilities. Leadership should
be exhibited in the classroom as well as in extra-curricular and
community activities.
SERVICE: The student should participate
in activities outside the school. The student should be
respectful of adults and those in authority whether in school or
out. Service means that the student gives freely of his or her
time to help others and better the community.
CHARACTER: The student
consistently exemplifies desirable qualities of behavior(cheerfulness,
friendliness, poise, and stability). The student upholds
principles of morality and ethics and demonstrates the highest
standards of honesty and reliability. The student also has a
responsibility to be a positive influence and help the school maintain
a healthy, positive place in the community and with other schools.
