Introduction

    The purpose of this activity is to give you a sampling of some of the aspects of Nebraska History. The websites have been carefully chosen to interest you and the questions challenge you. Good luck and have fun learning about Nebraska's History!

    The following links come from all over the Internet and represent a variety of viewpoints. Depending on the directions given to you by your teacher, this activity is set up so that you may answer the questions alone or by working in a group.

NEBRASKA FACTS AND TRIVIA
 Questions:

   1. Nebraska's nickname today is the Cornhusker State. Did Nebraska ever have another nickname? If so, what was it?
   2. Who invented the powdered soft drink call Kool-Aid?
   3. What two counties in Nebraska are named after animals?

  STATE SYMBOLS AND EMBLEMS
Questions:
  
   1. On what date (month, day, and year) was the western meadowlark adopted as the state bird?
   2. Who wrote Nebraska's State Song, 'Beautiful Nebraska'? According to the chorus, what will you find reaching to the ground?
   3. When was Nebraska's Official Seal established? What four themes are displayed on the seal?

 Questions:

   1. What was one of the first things said about Nebraska's State Flag?
   2. What is located in the middle of Nebraska's State Flag?
   3. If you wanted to buy a 5ft x 8ft. nylon Nebraska State Flag online from United States Flag Store, how much would it cost?

   1. Print the flag of Nebraska and neatly color it using colored pencils.

   2. Why is the name of Nebraska's State Statue 'The Sower'?
   3. What does the gold dome at the top of Nebraska's State Capitol building symbolize? What is placed around the dome and what do they symbolize?
