Classroom Rules and Assignment Policy

school things line:

CLASSROOM RULES

1. I cannot keep my neighbor from learning.

2. I cannot talk when the teacher is talking.

3. I must walk quietly and calmly down the hall.

4. I  must respect everyone!

When classroom rules are broken students do not get a stamp on their good behavior chart. When classroom rules are broken consistently, students lose recess privileges.

ASSIGNMENT/HOMEWORK POLICY

Each day your child will bring home a STAR Notebook for you to look through and remove papers that are to be kept at home.  Make sure you read our Weekly Newsletter so that you know what is going on in our classroom. Your child needs to return his/her STAR Notebook every morning as it will contain items that your child will need to refer to daily. Please help your child take care of this notebook as it will serve as an important organizational tool in the 4th grade classroom. Any homework or "papers to correct" will be inside the red folder of their STAR notebook.

Assignments are due each day during class unless there is not enough class time to complete the assignments. If this is the case then assignments are due the following morning. If an assignment is late, students will use their recess time to complete late assignments. If time is wasted and students are not on task even though plenty of time is given, then students will be asked to go to 9th hour from 3:45 to 4:30pm to get more one-on-one help with the late assignment.

Most daily assignments below a 78% can be corrected and returned for a better score. If students corrects everything, they will receive an extra 10 points. If the 10 points does not raise student≠s scores above a 70%, they will receive a 70% for their efforts.  Many times a child will need help with corrections and cannot correctly complete the assignment without help. I encourage parents to get involved by sitting down with your child as they are making corrections. There will be a small green note attached to the paper that needs to be corrected. Parents are asked to sign this note verifying that you saw the paper and checked it over for corrections.  Please make sure the corrected papers are put back in the STAR Notebook and returned the following day.
