A Van &
Airplane Tour of the West
We traveled by airplane and van as we toured the West Region. We visited some very beautiful country!!! Our tour of the West Region began with a stop at Lolo Pass. Lolo Pass is a mountain pass in the northern Rocky Mountains on the border between the U.S. states of Montana and Idaho. This trail was traveled by the famous explorers, Lewis and Clark.

Clark Website
Our second stop was at Yellowstone
National Park. We visited the Yellowstone website to view the
Old Faithful
Webcam.
Leadville Colorado was one of the frontier's wildest, richest, silver mining Boom Town. In Leadville, Colorado, we learned
about mining. Leadville made its fortune in silver. Nicknames for Leadville included "The Magic City" and "The Cloud City" because at two miles high, the city is sometimes in the clouds.

History

Perhaps our favorite stop was in
California when we went to Disneyland! It was our second Disney stop
since we also stopped at Disney World in Florida.
Disneyland Park Website We traveled from Disneyland to California's Central Valley. The Central Valley is a large, flat valley that is located in the central portion of California. This area is where many of California's agricultural products are grown. Where do you think we get California Raisins from?

Our stop at the Columbia River Gorge
was exciting and informational. The Columbia River cuts through the
Cascade Mountain Range, creating the 100-mile-long and 3,000-foot-deep
Columbia River Gorge.

We visited Tacoma, Washington and found out that it is known as the "City of Destiny" because the area was chosen to be the end of the Northern Pacific Railroad in the late 1800s.

Anchorage, Alaska is one of the most beautiful scenic cities in America. Anchorage has been named All-America City four times. If you love the outdoors and lots of wildlife you will love visiting the state of Alaska.

Honolulu, Hawaii was the final stop on our regional tour. Hawaii is made up of six unique islands. Some people say there's no place on earth like Hawaii.
