STAR NOTEBOOK
Students Thinking & Acting Responsibly
What is a STAR Notebook?  A STAR Notebook is a special notebook (binder) that your child will carry to and from school everyday this year.
STAR is an acronym for Students Thinkinging & Acting Responsibly.
The STAR will help your child stay organized and keep you in touch with our classroom.
STAR... DO's:
Do Take care of your STAR; it will be used all year!
Do Clean out the "Classroom Papers" pocket every evening.
Do Take your STAR home everyday and bring it back each morning.
Do Keep your STAR clean - do not eat or drink in front of your STAR!
Do Show your STAR to your parents everyday - they will be so proud of your new responsibility!
STAR... Dont's:
Don't make any marks or drawings in or on your STAR.
Don't leave your STAR at home, in the car or bus, or at daycare.
Don't let anyone borrow your STAR or tear pages out of your STAR.
Don't put any papers in your STAR that do not belong.
What's in a STAR Notebook? Front Pocket of Binder:
| SCHOOL INFORMATION POCKET
In the front pocket of the binder you will
find important papers from school. Please check this pocket daily for papers sent
home periodically throughout the school year. Remove and read all of these
papers promptly; they will keep you in touch with important news and
events that are happening at Cambridge Public Schools. | Zipper Pouch:
| STAR BUCKS POUCH
This is where you should put all money to be
brought to school (field trips, lunch, book orders etc.) so it doesn't get
"lost" in the bottom of the backpack. This is also a good place to put notes for excused absences. Students should take this money

| CLASSROOM PAPERS/HOMEWORK
The left pocket of this folder will contain homework or papers from school that your child needs to correct and return for a better score. In order for your child to get credit for corrections, the papers need to be returned the following day with ALL corrections made. Students will not receive partial credit. Parents will need to make sure all mistakes are corrected. If you have any questions about an answer you can note that on a sticky note attached to the paper. The right pocket will contain graded papers from school that need to be removed every night and kept at home. It is a good idea to review these papers with your child each evening. Please help your child remember to put any corrected papers or homework back in their STAR Notebook as soon as it is completed.!!!
