Think About It!

Democracy - it's the foundation of our nation and a fundamental principle on which our government is based.  Basic fundmental rights in the United States are the established in the First Amendment - freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assembly.  These same freedoms are also enjoyed by many other peoples around the world - including Great Britain - where recently, several Muslim marchers took to the streets in a lawful assembly.

The following photos were taken of several Muslims marching through the streets of London during their recent "Religion of Peace Demonstration."   The photos may be shocking and disturbing to some viewers.  These photos were NOT shown on American TV nor in American newspapers.

Keep in mind while viewing the photos that what these demonstraters were doing was perfectly legal in the U.K. and would also be legal in the United States - protected by the First Amendment's provision of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.  What do you think?  How does viewing these photos make you feel?  Write an essay about your thoughts, feelings, the First Amendment Freedoms of Speech and Assembly.  However, be careful to avoid being biased, or to promote violence or hatred toward another group in your essay.
